Beijing Day Four
Jul 31 2010
Day Four was a bit of R & R and a bit of shopping.
This time we went to the silk market where there are seven floors full of all the Fake goods stores, Carpets, silks etc. Keryn got a set of prescription glasses for about $110NZ Here just the lenses cost $300 and the frames about $700. I bought a whole lot of reading glasses ( I lose mine all the time).
Keryn bought a couple of “genuine” pearl necklaces. They demonstrated how to tell the difference between genuine pearl and imitation pearl. The coating came off our genuine pearls within 24 hours – lol!
I bought some more polo shirts and a couple of pens – the very latest Mount Blanc design.
That evening we walked down Waifujing Street, close by our hotel. We had a revolting meal in one of the fast food places, and I burnt my lip on one the dumplings – which doubly upset me!
